I’m a full-time editor-in-chief and part-time freelance writer living in beautiful Oxford, Mississippi. Originally from Michigan and a former resident of Los Angeles, California, my journalism career started in high school and progressed throughout college where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Cal State Northridge. In the early years of my career I wrote various marketing materials and ads as well as newsletters, press releases and the like for OPI Products. After working for GoTo.com/Overture Services (now owned by Yahoo), helping to edit online search listings and ensure site validity, I provided public relations assistance to an interior design PR firm before moving on to more focused editorial work at Nailpro, and later, Dayspa magazine. While at Dayspa, I wrote and edited several columns, styled photo shoots and had a hand in the magazine’s gradual redesign.

When I made the move to Mississippi in 2006, I ramped up my freelance writing and co-authored a local restaurant review column, The Two Tastebuds, for more than a year. I also accepted a position as editor-in-chief of the national foodservice trade publication PMQ Pizza Magazine (www.pmq.com) where I've helped to make numerous improvements to the content and appearance of the book. In July 2011, I won an ASBPE journalism award for the article Netting Profits, which appeared in the June/July 2010 issue of PMQ Pizza Magazine.

While exploring my love of food writing, I started EatingOxford.com, an online restaurant directory and blog, at the end of 2009. It is currently ranked as the No. 1 food blog in Mississippi according to Urbanspoon.com and has won "best website" honors in three local reader polls.

I served three years on the Board of Directors for the International Foodservice Editorial Council (IFEC, ifeconline.com), an association for writers, editors and public relations professionals working in and with foodservice media and I've also run for local office in Oxford, Mississippi.
